Working in a comfort zone: tips for organizing a home office

It is believed that at home it is more difficult for us to focus on work: either the sofa will lure you to sit on it, or the bed will force you to lie down.

We tell you how to competently organize a home office so as not to lose concentration and at the same time create anti-stress conditions for work.

If there is no separate room

If the living space does not have the luxury of a separate office, you can organize a workplace in the bedroom or living room. Functional zoning will come to the rescue. A sense of privacy will provide a decorative partition or shelving.

An open rack will not visually clutter up the interior and at the same time can be used for its intended purpose: books, folders with working documents, decor and the stationery you need will be placed here.

Another option to ergonomically integrate the “office” into the interior of the living room is to place the workplace behind the sofa.

A creative option is to turn a window sill into a countertop. A fairly popular solution is to organize a workplace on the loggia, where good access to daylight and fresh air will contribute to productivity.

Space organization

Your desktop can be anything: solid wood or minimalist hanging, standard office or rare vintage. The main thing is that the work surface should suit you, in the literal sense of the word – for the comfort of your back, the height of the tabletop should correspond to your height.

To calculate the ideal countertop height, use the formula: your height * 75 cm / 175 cm. If several family members of different heights use the desktop at once, an adjustable height chair will solve the problem. In order not to clutter up the workplace, organize the space. In drawers you can hide work papers, stationery and even charging “stations” for gadgets.

Documents and useful little things can be entered into the interior by placing them on open shelves in folders, decorative boxes, baskets and even glass jars. A convenient solution is wall holders, organizers, cork and magnetic boards, with which you can place important notes above the workplace, calendar, family photos, motivational posters and postcards.

Proponents of minimalism can hide everything superfluous behind the furniture facades of closed storage systems, including printers, scanners and other equipment. Cabinets without fittings look the most concise, which can be “disguised” as the color of the walls.

Anti-stress situation

The strict ascetic look of your work office is not at all a role model. At home, you can afford an anti-stress environment. The optimal solution will be shades, materials and decor that evoke associations with wildlife.

Provide a place for a table lamp, the best solution for a workplace is a daylight LED bulb. Live plants, trendy macrame, wicker baskets, natural wood and cork will add natural color to the home office.

Rest for the eyes will be anti-stress blue, cool mint, “marine” and “forest” tones.

They can be used on a large scale – as the main color of the walls or in fragments – to decorate the wall in front of the desktop with paint or wallpaper.

Work from home with comfort and pleasure, take care of yourself.
